Nordson Depot

Located at 671 Franklin Ave, the historic train depot was built in 1905 by Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway, which later became part of the New York Central. The station served passenger trains until 1963. The train depot was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Owned by Nordson Corporation for many years it was used as community resource. Nordson corporation then donated it to the city of Amherst in 2021. The city of Amherst completely remodeled the space bringing a fresh and new look and name, Nordson Depot.

The playground, complete with a jungle gym, slides and swings, was built as part of a collaboration among Leadership Lorain County, Nordson Corporation Foundation and the city of Amherst. Nordson Depot Park is a wonderful addition to the city’s green space.

The Train Depot also serves as an office for the Office on Aging and space for Senior Activities. Please see the Office on Aging tab for more information about the services offered and activities available.

Nordson Depot Reservations

The Nordson Depot can comfortably fit 72 people, all reservations can be made online (See below).

If the date you are looking for is unavailable, specifically if it is less than 14 days’ notice, please contact 440-988-2817. The date may be available for us to book for you.

For funeral luncheons please call the office directly for availability.

The hall includes:

• (10) 6 ft round tables, seats 6 per table {fits a 90 inch or larger tablecloth, not provided}
• 72 chairs
• (4) 8 ft tables {fits a 110-inch tablecloth, not provided}
• There is no kitchen, refrigeration or stove we suggest using chafing dishes
• Coffee bar available
• Beautiful, exposed brick provides a neutral background to compliment your décor
• Please note this is a self-service venue and the key will only work for the allotted times.

Rental reservations are made online (see below). Payment is due in full at the time of booking. Fees are non-refundable if the event is canceled with less than 30 days’ notice given, however we will do our best to reschedule your event.
