City of Amherst Building Codes

The City of Amherst has adopted and enforces the following building codes for all construction work within the city per Part Thirteen, Title One of the Amherst Codified Ordinances:

• 2024 Ohio Building Code (OBC)
• 2019 Residential Code of Ohio (RCO)
• 2024 Ohio Plumbing Code (OPC)
• 2024 Ohio Mechanical Code (OMC)
• 2023 National Electric Code (NEC)
• 2024 Existing Building Code (OEBC)
• 2017 Ohio Energy Code (OEC)
• 2015 International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC)
• 2009 ICC A117.1 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities
• 2015 International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC)

Any updates and/or amendments to the building codes listed above shall be in effect per the latest approvals and enforcement of the State of Ohio Board of Building Standards.
